Master Sergeant John “Dusty” Lee is currently a Special Operations Recruiting Liaison, Special Tactics Training Squadron, 24 SOW, Air Force Special Operations Command, Hurlburt Field, Fla. Sergeant Lee was born in Muleshoe, Texas, on 4 August 1973 and attended Muleshoe and Arlington High Schools, where he graduated in 1992. MSgt Lee entered the Air Force in February 1993, and has served as a Special Operations Weatherman for the past 21 plus years. He has served as both weather observer and then as a forecaster. MSgt Lee served two overseas tours, one in Korea and the other in Italy. He has held various positions from field operator to weather advisor for both Army and Air Force Commanders, and as a trainer for future Special Tactics operators. Prior to his current assignment, MSgt Lee was assigned as the 10th Combat Weather Squadron’s NCOIC of Training/Standards and Evaluations as well as the additional duty First Sergeant. MSgt Lee has led and served as a SOWT operator in Joint Special Operations missions in support of Operations UPHOLD DEMOCRACY, DESERT THUNDER/DESERT RAIN, ALLIED FORCE, ENDURING FREEDOM, VIKING HAMMER, IRAQI FREEDOM, as well as missions in the Horn of Africa and Monrovia, Liberia. Master Sergeant Lee has attended several advanced skills training courses/certifications throughout his career to include Static Line and Military Freefall Jumpmaster, Rappel Master, Rope Master and Cast Master.
